Class A licensed asbestos removalists in NSW
A Class A asbestos removal licence is required for friable asbestos work — material that's been damaged, deteriorated, or is otherwise capable of releasing fibres. This includes pipe lagging, loose-fill insulation, and any asbestos cement that's broken, weathered, or crumbling. Class A removalists hold a separate, more rigorous licence than Class B contractors, and there are far fewer of them in NSW.
Before any friable asbestos work begins, NSW law requires a licensed asbestos assessor to inspect the site, identify the material, and provide written advice on safe removal. The assessor must be independent from the removalist — they cannot be the same business or affiliated. After removal, the assessor returns to perform a clearance inspection and issue a certificate before the area can be reoccupied.
The contractors below all hold current Class A licences verified against the SafeWork NSW public register. Always confirm the licence is current at the time of engagement, and engage a licensed assessor first.
