Class B licensed asbestos removalists in NSW
A Class B asbestos removal licence covers non-friable (bonded) asbestos — material where the asbestos fibres are tightly bound into a solid matrix, typically cement. This is by far the most common type of asbestos found in NSW homes built before 1990: fibro wall and ceiling sheeting, asbestos cement fences, eaves and soffits, roof sheeting (often Super Six branded), floor tiles, and downpipes.
Most residential asbestos removal jobs in NSW only require a Class B licence. Unlike Class A (friable) work, Class B removal does not legally require a separate licensed asbestos assessor before work begins, though independent air monitoring is mandatory for jobs over 50 square metres under SafeWork NSW guidance.
The contractors below all hold current Class B licences verified against the SafeWork NSW public register. If the material is crumbling, weathered, or has been damaged in a fire or flood, it may have become friable and require a Class A licensed contractor instead. Always confirm the licence is current at the time of engagement.
